Rick Sharp brings more than 36 years of Executive Management experience in maritime stevedoring, terminal and warehousing segments of the international logistics industry with responsibilities in operations, sales, strategic planning, supply chain solutions, and business development. Throughout his career, he has worked various class vessels and is an expert in handling general cargo, breakbulk cargo, refrigerated/frozen cargo, project cargo, containers, and roro cargo. ⁠ ⁠ Rick assisted in the design, development, and construction of a state-of-the-art cold storage facility at PLRS, assisted in the purchase and delivery of two100-ton cranes, negotiated contracts with vendors for all equipment, supplies and all services needed for the operation of the facility.

Russ Smeback

Russell Smeback received an MBA from the University of Oregon and has earned accounting certifications as a CPA, CIA and CFE. He has over 15 years logistics experience in the trucking, intermodal and warehouse management industry, as well as more than 20 years in international Project Management participating as key staff on several multi-million-dollar projects in the mining, civil and science industries. In addition, he has been an integral member of the startup team for several small companies and one fortune 500 company.

Dietmar Reuten

Director of Facilities, Equipment and Maintenance

Dietmar Reuten was born and educated in Germany and is also an American Citizen. He has over 25 years experience as an Electrical Engineer working on several major commissioning projects as well as providing consulting services to Ports Worldwide. Dietmar also received his Master of Science in Computer Studies at the Canterbury University, UK and his BA in Telecommunications and BA in Microprocessor from Germany. He is widely known and respected for his vast knowledge of handling start up Port Operations and setting up systems and procedures to successfully support these services. He has been responsible for training and managing technical personnel in the Port and Crane industry. Before Dietmar joined PLRS as the Director of Facilities and Maintenance, he worked for 13 years with Ports America as their Engineering Manager and 16 years with Gottwald.

Jose Santana

Jose Santana started in the maritime industry in 1999 and has work his way through the ranks He brings over 15 years of management experience in Terminal, Warehouse, and Stevedoring Operations. Jose has obtained several training certificates including Master Rigger which brings extensive knowledge of the gear and equipment needed to work a stevedore and warehouse operation safely and efficiently. He has consistently enforced safety policies and procedures throughout all facets of the operation. Jose has also been involved with the security requirements of the USCG for over 10 years as an FSO/AFSO of multiple companies. Not only has he managed Terminal, Stevedore and warehouse operations he has operated all equipment (Crane, Truck, Stacker, forklift) associated with stevedore and warehouse operations.

About us

Port Logistic Refrigerated Services is Tampa Bays’ newest facility for handling import/export of refrigerated and frozen products. Our facility is 135,000 sq feet with 6,348 total racked pallet positions for the handling of perishable cargoes. Our freezer has space for 3,400 pallets. PLRS has an on-site custom inspection area, dedicated refrigerated fumigation services, and Customs lab.
